We are excited to announce that Cal Bakker of Neerlandia FunTeam hockey has been nominated for the 2019 Randy Gregg Volunteer award!

Volunteers are hard to find. Every organization has to work to find and keep volunteers. Cal Bakker has remained with the Neerlandia FunTeam Hockey group for 20 years. He is a positive coach, encouraging every player to reach their potential regardless of ability. If Cal only volunteered as a coach that would still be a wonderful benefit to the community but he also volunteers in so many other ways that provide much needed help to community organizations.

Cal is available at the rink for any issues that come up, organizing and assisting with fundraisers for the Linaria Rink, as always volunteering to coach our old team.Although he is paid as the local rink caretaker he also takes on the usual tasks involved managing the arena, sharpening skates, trouble shooting, and has been doing so since 2010. WE are so grateful he keeps our small rink running. He also refs whenever we need someone to fill in.

He has volunteered countless hours to his community through coaching and his a well liked coach. He refs for 5 beer league teams during the week and is always professional and good at keeping calm under stress.

Not only is Cal an integral part of his FunTeam group but to his community as well. Thank you to Amanada for the nomination and congratulations to Cal on not just being a great volunteer but a great person and community member.
