Mini Try-athlon Planning Kit
Mission
To encourage youth and families to engage in fun physical activity.
To build self confidence in youth regarding their athletic capabilities in order
to create further interest in school sports or community based physical activities.
To encourage healthy lifestyle choices at an early age.
The Program
This event is great for groups looking for an activity that can be a part of a larger
event, such as a block party or fundraiser or for communities and schools looking
for a fun physical activity any time of the year. Group leaders can choose a variety
of activities from the planning kit for participants to enjoy. 10-15 stations are
recommended. An ideal group size would be a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 50. Stations
can be set up in a circuit like format in a designated space such as a gym or field.
Groups are composed of 3-4 members and spend 4-5 minutes at each station engaging
in the various activities until they have completed all the stations. Each station
varies in its focus, some focus on a particular skill used in any given sport others
are just fun physical activities that engage different muscle groups. There are
even stations that center on healthy lifestyle choices such as the food rainbow
or recycling and the environment. By the end of the circuit, participants will have
been actively engaged in several exercises that use all the major muscle groups
of the body while spending time with their families or communities and having fun!
FunTeam is pleased to support communities by alleviating many of the organizational
challenges.
